Tax reliefs for 2026

Everyone gets RM9,000 for themselves; EPF up to RM4,000 and life insurance up to RM3,000 come on top, plus RM2,000 per child and up to RM2,500 for lifestyle. Claim them through your employer with Form TP1 and your PCB drops the same month.

What a claim does to your PCB

A single person on RM6,000 a month pays RM207.50 PCB. Claim RM5,500 a year of reliefs on TP1 (life insurance, lifestyle and medical insurance, say) and it drops to RM203.30, a saving of RM4.20 a month. Try your own in the PCB calculator under More.

See it on your own pay: the salary calculator shows each deduction with its working.

Questions

What is Form TP1?

The form you give your employer to claim reliefs and rebates during the year. Your employer adds them to the PCB formula from that month, so PCB falls straight away instead of you waiting for a refund after filing.

Do I lose a relief if I don’t claim it on TP1?

No. Any relief not claimed through payroll can still be claimed when you file your Form BE; you get the difference back as a refund.

What changes in 2027?

Budget 2027, tabled in October 2026, proposes raising the individual relief from RM9,000 to RM12,000 and cutting some rates from year of assessment 2027. They’re proposals until the Finance Act is passed and LHDN publishes its 2027 PCB specification; this site will switch over when it does.
